چکیده

We study the phase diagram of the proton-neutron interacting boson model with special emphasis on the phase transitions leading to triaxial phases. The existence of a new critical point between spherical and triaxial shapes is reported.

Shape transitions in proton-neutron systems

We explore the possibility of shape transitions in proton-neutron systems driven by deformation differences between proton and neutron fluids. Within the framework of the proton-neutron interacting boson model, we show that such dynamic shape transitions cannot occur in well deformed nuclei but are a possibility in transitional nuclei. Likely candidates in the Os-Pt isotopes are discussed and p...

Odd-even 147–153Pm isotopes within the neutron-proton interacting boson-fermion model

Low-lying energy states of the 147−153Pm isotopic chain are studied within the framework of the neutron-proton interacting boson-fermion model (IBFM-2). The spectra of these isotopes show a transition from a particle coupled to a vibrational core to a particle coupled to a deformed one. The calculation reproduces this behavior. In addition, reduced transition probabilities B(E2) and B(M1) and q...

Interacting Boson Model plus broken-pairs description of high-spin dipole bands

The Interacting Boson Model with broken-pairs has been extended to include mixed proton-neutron configurations in the fermion model space. The extended version of the model has been used to describe high-spin bands in the transitional nucleus 136Nd. Model calculations reproduce ten bands of positive and negative parity states, including the two dipole high-spin structures based on the (πh11/2) ...

Consistent description of magnetic dipole properties in transitional nuclei

It is shown that a consistent description of magnetic dipole properties in transitional nuclei can be obtained in the interacting boson model-2 by Fspin breaking mechanism, which is associated with differences between the proton and neutron deformations. In particular, the long standing anomalies observed in the g-factors of the Os-Pt isotopes are resolved by a proper inclusion of F-spin breaki...

Boson core compressibility

Strongly interacting atoms trapped in optical lattices can be used to explore phase diagrams of Hubbard models. Spatial inhomogeneity due to trapping typically obscures distinguishing observables. We propose that measures using boson double occupancy avoid trapping effects to reveal two key correlation functions. We define a boson core compressibility and core superfluid stiffness in terms of d...
